This is 100% linen, it is woven with an even and wide grid for ease of stitching.
The fabric count indicates how many stitches per inch there are. For example, 28 count (or 28ct) has 28 stitches per inch when you stitch over one hole. A 28ct fabric is commonly stitched over 2 holes, which would make it a 14ct fabric.
